Over 30 donors take part in blood donation drive

KAPIT: Over 30 volunteers turned up at Kapit Hospital’s Blood Bank last Saturday in response to Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Kapit Chapter’s appeal for blood donation.

Officer-in-charge of the Blood Bank Hanapi Sli and his team supervised the donation process which went smoothly.

Also present at the event were MRC Kapit chairman Dr Sia Tih Kong, organising chairman Kapitan Micky Ngu, publicity officer James Ling, fundraising sub-committee chairman Ma Tian Ho and other MRC members.

The mass blood donation campaign was one of a series of activities organised by MRC Kapit Chapter to commemorate the World Red Cross/World Red Crescent Day celebration last Sunday.

Among the activities carried out was the launching of the fundraising flag sale which was jointly officiated at by Kapit Member of Parliament Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, Kapit Resident Dahim Nadot and adviser Temenggong Lau Kah Kie last Saturday morning at Meligai Hotel here.

At the same function, Linggi also handed out RM10,000 to MRC Kapit Chapter to aid its activities.

He commended the MRC here for its fine effort in helping to raise fund for the Japanese earthquake and tsunami victims.

Other highlighted activities included ‘Adoption of Red Crescent Baby’ at Kapit Hospital and fellowship gathering.
