MIRI: The Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Riam Hilltop Garden Area Committee invited all interested family members to participate to its cooking competition to be held on May 29.
According to organising chairlady Yong Shui Juon, the competition is organised in conjunction with its ‘Care to the Elders’ celebration to be held at the second floor of SUPP Riam at 2pm.
The main objective of the event, she said, was aimed to promote the Chinese traditional noble practice of respecting the elders as well as providing a good venue to foster closer relationship among the family members.
“This competition is open to any interested family member with each participating team must comprise of two members,” she said, adding that each team will be charged RM5 for registration fee.
Chicken has been chosen as the main ingredient of this competition and participants will be required to prepare all ingredients and materials.
With 1 hour to prepare their dish, participants will be judged on taste (60 per cent), team work (20 per cent), creativity (10 per cent) and hygiene (10 per cent).
The champion team will walk away with RM100 cash followed by RM80 (second place), RM60 (third place) and RM40 (fourth place) plus hamper each.
In addition, the organiser will also provide three consolation prizes of RM20 and hamper each.
