SIBU: The newly crowned Miss Sibu/Sarawak Model of the World 2011 is unsure about her future prospects and is hoping the competition she has just won would provide her with some leads.

Tracy Wong Tiang Ming, 21, said she had always been interested in modelling but was unsure if she should take up modelling as a career.

“Maybe I’ll see where this competition will take me,” she quipped during an interview with The Borneo Post recently.

Tracy is currently waiting for offer letters from local universities.

The competition over the last weekend where she was crowned was not the first modelling contest for her.

She said: “I entered for the Medan Mall Miss Model last year and was placed second. But I missed the last Miss Sarawak Contest despite encouragement from friends because I needed to focus on my studies then.”

The youngest among nine siblings, Tracy still harbours the hope of becoming a model one day.

For the second runner-up, 19-year-old Winnie Wong Kee Si, the competition was an excellent learning opportunity.

“I learned a lot from the competition, such as body language, personality development and so forth,” she said, adding that winning or losing was not much of a concern.

Asked about her ambition, she said she had always wanted to become a make-up artist but was unable to do so because of financial problem.

“I do not come from a wealthy family, so I put the thoughts to bed for a little while,” she said.

Asked how she came to know about the competition, she said it was through her friends and encouragement from the family members.

On what she wanted to achieve in the future through the competition, she said she had not given it a thought.

“I’ve just finished my Form Five education. Freshly out of school, I just joined this competition and have yet to think that far,” she pointed out.
