Three vehicles stolen in a day

KOTA KINABALU: Three vehicles, including one belonging to a Customs personnel, were stolen around the state capital in three separate incidents on Tuesday.

The Toyota Liteace van of the Customs personnel, valued at RM18,000, was stolen when parked at the Customs quarters in Sepanggar.

“Police believe that the incident happened around midnight after the victim parked his van at the Customs quarters,” acting city police chief Superintendent Ramli Ali Mat said.

“The victim, in his 50s, only realized the van was stolen in the morning around 6.30am,” Ramli told a press conference at the City Police Headquarters in Karamunsing here yesterday.

In the second incident, a Perodua Kancil car owned by a student was stolen when parked at SM Teknik, Likas around 2.45pm.

Ramli said the student discovered the theft of his RM30,000 car after the school session ended.

A Toyota Hilux vehicle owned by a 30-year-old woman was stolen from the car park at Likas Stadium.

The victim told police that she parked the vehicle at the stadium around 7.30am to attend a sports event and discovered it missing around 6pm.

“She thought she had forgotten where she parked the vehicle but after searching around the area, she realized that it had been stolen,” said Ramli.

Meanwhile, two men, including a foreigner, lost their motorcycles in two separate incidents.

The first case happened on May 10 when the foreigner, in his 30s, parked his Honda motorcycle in front of his sundry shop in Sembulan around 8.30am.

“The victim only realized his motorcycle was stolen when he was about to leave the shop for some business matter,” said Ramli.

The other Honda motorcycle, valued at RM5,000 and owned by a local technician, was stolen from Wisma Sabah car park on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old victim had parked the motorcycle at 9.30am and found it stolen at 9.30pm.
