PITAS: The Sabah government will continue with efforts to develop the state for the benefit of the people, especially those in the rural areas, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said.

Citing Pitas, he said, a huge allocation had been set aside for the district for the implementation of various programmes for tourism, poverty eradication, and education.

It also included building and upgrading of roads, provision of water and electricity supply and people’s housing projects, he said at the opening of the Bengkoka and Kaamatan festivals at Dataran Bengkoka here yesterday.

Musa said this proved the sincerity and continuous commitment by the government in safeguarding the people’s interest and well-being.

“However, the success of these development programmes depend on the people’s support and participation.

Hence, the need for the people to work together and utilise the facilities provided by the government to improve their socio-economic standard and well being,” he added. — Bernama
