PBB Youth wing gives movement seven days to retract inflammatory statement

KUCHING: Movement of Change Sarawak (MoCS) is given seven days to retract a statement that it would initiate a street demonstration if Chief Minister Pehin Seri Abdul Mahmud does not step down on August 13 this year.

If it fails to do so, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth wing said it will seek legal action and meet Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein to curb “those subversive elements”.

PBB Kuching Zone youth wing spokesperson Wan Hamzah Wan Paie did not mince his words when he asserted that PBB Youth was taking the matter seriously.

He also urged the police to put MoCS leader Francis Siah under house arrest and ensure that he is dealt with accordingly.

“He has the intention to instigate hatred and cause riot which is similar to the Middle East demonstration and that could disrupt peace and harmony in Sarawak,” he said when met yesterday.

Wan Hamzah together with PBB Kuching Zone youth members yesterday lodged a police report against Francis Siah at Central Police station over MoCS’ alleged malicious activities.

Wan Hamzah, who is a senior private secretary to Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, said although Siah said in his blog that the demonstration would be done in a peaceful manner, he mentioned that he would do “anything within his capacity to make sure Taib steps down”.

“We believe this is a dangerous and subversive statement that would cause riots in the streets,” he added.

He also wanted the police to investigate whether
Siah is a mole of western organisations to instigate hatred among the people of Sarawak.

He said according to sources, Siah had planned to hold the demonstration with 200,000 supporters from outside Sarawak and the plan was said to be in progress.

“This dirty plan of his will be costly and we (the PBB youth) are strongly against this and urge the police and other relevant authorities to investigate MoCS which is believed to be financed by Westerners,” he said.

To a question, Wan Hamzah said MoCS may use the right channel to protest its dissatisfactions right to the Yang Di Pertuan Agong.

“He can use all the right channels if he wants and make sure that the channel is in accordance with the law.

“He can always go and send the memorandum to YDPA if he thinks it is necessary for him to do so. We will not stop him doing that,” he added.

Wan Hamzah reiterated that Siah’s action of asking Taib to step down clearly indicated that he had no respect for the law and the mandate given by the people.

“He mocks the democratic election process and shows no respect to the Election Commission. It means clearly that he has no respect at all for the constitution as well.”

Meanwhile, PBB Samarahan youth wing also lodged a police report against MoCS on Monday at Kota Samarahan police station.

The report was lodged by its youth exco member Hamzah Brahim, who represented Samarahan Youth zone.

He was accompanied by around 30 members.
