PAS veep withdraws from contest for number two post

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS vice president Salahuddin Ayub has decided to pull out of the race for the the deputy president post at PAS’ polls which will be held during the party’s 57th general assembly here from June 3 to 5.

“Members may think otherwise but I feel I do not qualify to contest the number two post,” the member of parliament for Kubang Kerian told Bernama.

On Tuesday, Salahuddin’s name was announced as one of the contenders for the post along with incumbent Nasharudin Mat Isa, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak, vice president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and two PAS central committee members, Datuk Husam Musa and Mohamad Sabu.

On defending the vice president post, Salahuddin said he was willing to take up the responsibility but had yet to make a decision on it. — Bernama
