KUALA LUMPUR: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, through the National Welfare Foundation, will contribute RM1,500 each to the victims of the landslide at the Rumah Anak-anak Yatim dan Anak-anak Madrasah Hidayah Al-Taqwa in Hulu Langat.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, said the victims would also receive RM300 each from the Social Welfare Department and other aid from the ‘Sayang Squad’.

The ministry, she said, would also provide other form of assistance to the victims, including counselling, especially to the three victims currently at the Intensive care Unit (ICU) of the Ampang Hospital.

“The victims at the ICU need support and motivation as two of them have to have one of their legs amputated,” she added.

Shahrizat said this at a media conference after accompanying the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and the Deputy Prime Minister’s wife, Datin Seri Norainee Abdul Rahman, who visited the victims at the Ampang Hospital here yesterday.

Sharizat said the ministry would also offer accommodation at the Skill Development Centre in Serendah, Selangor, to the victims should they need it.

On the registration status of the orphanage, Shahrizat said the ministry would discuss the matter next week.

Meanwhile, Ampang Hospital director, Dr Aishah Ahmad Makinuddin, who was also at the media conference, said six victims of the landslide who were in the normal ward were reported in stable condition.

The three victims in the ICU are being monitored closely, she added. — Bernama
