No excuse not to pay utility bills with mobile ‘post office’

SIBU: Residents on the west bank of the Rejang River no longer need to travel to the town centre to settle their utility bills, thanks to a mobile ‘post office’.

The mobile unit, a van equipped with the necessary electronic collection terminal and satellite communication equipment, is there every Thursday from 10am to 2pm to handle payments, ranging from electricity, water to insurance bills, with the exception of the SMC assessment rates.

The mobile unit is at the Bawang Assan Clinic from 10am to 11am, at Bukit Lan SJK (C) Ung Nang from 11.30am to 12.30 pm and at Sg Sadit SJK (C) Kwong Hua from 1.20 pm to 2.30pm.

KRT Sg Empawah chairman Wong Hua was grateful to Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing for rendering his assistance to make the mobile unit possible. The mobile post started in April and has received encouraging response from the residents in the area.

“However, many people in the area are still not aware of its existence,” he said. Besides the west bank, the mobile unit also serves other areas in Sibu.
