KUCHING: Two teenage boys from Jalan Puncak Borneo, near here, were admitted to hospital after both injured their hands in separate firecracker mishaps.
The first incident happened on Thursday at Kampung Sikog when the teenager failed to throw away a lit firecracker in time after it became ‘stuck’ to his fingers.
According to a source, the victim had earlier been eating glutinous rice, which made his fingers sticky, and did not wash his hands prior to playing with the firecracker. His fingers were badly injured in the incident and he was later sent to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for treatment.
The second mishap occurred at Kampung Mambong yesterday when another teen also failed to throw away a lit firecracker in time.
The 13-year-old boy, who ended up with injuries to three of his fingers, was said to have been playing firecrackers in front of his house around 10am when one prematurely exploded in his hand.
He was also sent to SGH and admitted for treatment.
