NEEDING CARE: The five kittens dumped at the Sabah Animal Medical Centre.

KOTA KINABALU: A couple were caught red-handed dumping five kittens at the Sabah Animal Medical Centre.

A concerned witness — who took down the license plate number of the vehicle — immediately called Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Kota Kinabalu (SPCA KK).

She even managed to speak to the ‘dumpers’ who claimed they could not take care of the kittens and assumed the veterinarian would know what to do.

According to a spokesperson from SPCA KK, this irresponsible act is not only selfish and cruel, but shows complete lack of consideration to the veterinarian.

“The public must realise that dumping animals indiscriminately is cruel as this could threaten or endanger the animals and at the same time, poses an inconvenience to others.

“We have taken down the car plate number with hopes of identifying the owners,” said the spokesperson.

He added that this is another reason why responsible pet owners should spay or neuter their pets.

The five kittens are healthy and looking for loving homes.

Those interested to adopt, please call 088-253481 or visit the Sabah Animal Medical Centre.

Should anyone witness any case of animal cruelty, abuse or abandonment, please contact the SPCA KK hotline at 013-856 9100.
