MIRI: The government reiterated that it will only promise to the people on projects or policies that are deliverable and benefitting the people as a whole.

Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said unlike the opposition who like to make many empty promises, the Barisan Nasional government is truly a caring government whose untiring efforts continue to bring development to the people, even as far as Lio Mato in Ulu Baram.

“Of course some promises can be delivered almost immediately and some will take a little time due to distance and size of the project,” said Dennis on Tuesday at the launching of a bridge project for Sungai Tejan, Lio Mato, a village at the upper reaches of Baram with 800 population.

The wooden bridge costing RM70,000 is expected to be completed in three months’ time.

It is a project approved during the visit to Lio Mato by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu in November last year.

Dennis urged the people in his constituency to continue giving their strong support to the government for continuality of development.

He said, the people of Lio Mato are fortunate with facilities like school, clinic and agriculture service centre available and as such the people should be thankful.

He also urged the people to take care and work closely with government staff stationed at their respective centre to give them a conducive working environment.

At the same function he handed over government grant of RM5,000 from the Minor Rural Project (MRP) fund also from the deputy chief minister to the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of SK Lio Mato.

Receiving the grant was the school’s headmaster, Jack Sibang. Also present were the village headman Belawan Lenjau and the Sarawak Administrative Officer (SAO) Jeffrey Jalong of Marudi District Council.
