PUTRAJAYA: Deliberations on socio-economic transformation at the Langkawi International Dialogue 2011 (LID 2011), beginning tomorrow,
will further reinforce its relevance amid current global challenges.

“A lot of effort has been put to ensure the deliberation at this year’s LID will not only be interesting but further fortify LID’s relevance,” said Deputy Foreign Minister A Kohilan Pillay.

Speaking at the opening of the International Media Centre (IMC) for LID 2011, which will be hosted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, he said it incorporated four main sessions.

They include dialogue forums which comprised interactive sessions between leaders and participants on three main topics.

Kohilan said the deliberations and outcome of the Dialogue needed to be shared and highlighted, for which the media would have a crucial role to play.

The IMC is located at Hall 6, Concourse Level, Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).

On the three main topics, Kohilan said they were ‘Realising National Visions Through Socio-Economic Transformation’, ‘Innovative Financing for Transformation’ and ‘Poverty Eradication’. — Bernama
