KUANTAN: Pahang will continue to take precautionary measures to ensure state owned websites and websites of its agencies are not hacked by irresponsible people.

State Information, Science, Technology and Innovation committee chairman Datuk Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin said the state information technology unit was closely monitoring reports received so far on the attack on government websites by unknown hackers.

He said that all the websites have supporting data in case they are hacked.

“We have taken the necessary steps, including computer security systems, but if it still falls prey to hackers, it is beyond our ability,” he told reporters after witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Universiti Malaysia Pahang and Tallaght Technology Institute, Ireland, here yesterday.

A total of 51 websites with gov.my domains were hacked since on Thursday, causing 41 of the websites to encounter different levels of interruption. — Bernama
