TC Motors introduces Bison Trucks in S’wak

KUCHING: TC Motors (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd (TC Motors), a subsidiary of Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd (Tan Chong Motor) officially launched a new marquee of commercial vehicles named Bison Trucks in Sarawak with the introduction of three models.

The launching ceremony was officiated by Dato Yong Khoon Seng, the Deputy Minister of Works.

Attending the event were executive director of Warisan TC Holding Bhd Ngu Ew Look, deputy general manager of TC Motors Goh Yong Chai, and business development general manger of Angka Tan Motor Sdn Bhd Tan Khai Peng.

Also present were acting consul general of the Embassy of The People’s Republic of China, Pi Qing and councillor of the Padawan Municipal Council, Lo Khere Chiang.

Yong said, “I would like to congratulate the team for achieving this remarkable milestone. In this age of inflation, this launching is very timely as the prices are very competitive. I hope you will get a lot of response.”

Yong also pointed out that safety features of the trucks were important and efficiency of the engines was very important as it would cut costs for businesses operating the vehicles Assembled locally by Tan Chong Motor, Bison Trucks are rebadged vehicles which were developed by Beiqi Foton Motor in China and sold there under the brand Foton.

Established in Beijing in 1996, Foton had sold 3.3 million vehicles in 14 years of operation and won ‘China’s No. 1 Commercial Vehicle Brand’ award in 2005.

It led the Chinese market in commercial vehicles sales for five consecutive years and had a projected sales volume of two million trucks by 2015, garnering sales revenue of 200 billion yuan.

The three models launched in Sarawak were the BJ1039 with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 4,800 kg, the BJ1049 with 5,000 kg GVW and the BJ1069 with 8,300 kg GVW.

Noted for their high torque at low engine revolutions and competitive prices with ongoing discounts until July 31, the trucks came with safety features and comfortable ergonomics for the driver.
