30 students pass UMS Science Foundation Course

KOTA KINABALU: Thirty-three students graduated from the Science Foundation Course at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) here yesterday.

The Science and Technology Preparation Centre was launched in April last year under the School of Science and Technology.

The students who have completed the foundation course will be able to further their studies as UMS undergraduates.

UMS Vice Chancellor Datuk Seri Panglima Prof Dr Kamaruzaman Hj Ampon said the setting up of the Science and Technology Preparation Centre is in
line with meeting the country’s aspirations to become a developed country by 2020.

“The centre will enable our country to achieve its aspirations to become a nation focusing on the industrial field with an increase in science and technology graduates each year.”

His speech was delivered by the Dean of the Schools of Science and Technology Prof Dr Mohd Harun Abdullah.

Kamaruzaman also hopes that the graduates will work towards becoming innovative and productive in contributing towards the country’s transformation.
