KOTA KINABALU: Seven people, including one wearing the Bersih 2.0 rally T-shirt, were detained by the police while having breakfast at a coffee shop in Asia City here yesterday.

They were detained around 11.30am, said Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib.

All the seven people were taken to the Karamunsing police station to give their statements.

He said the case would be investigate under Section 27(5) of the Police Act against those wearing the Bersih T-shirts for categorically expressing support for the rally and conspiring to instigate, and Section 108 of the Penal Code for abetting.

Hamza reminded the public not to be involved in any rally and do not use the Bersih T-shirt.    “The people should not be engaged in this type of act as we will not tolerate and will act firmly,” he said.

It is believed that among those detained were Party Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Youth Exco member Dr Natassia Sarah and former Sabah PKR chief Haji Ansari Abdullah’s son, Mohd Ezral.
