KUCHING: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) will be holding a ‘Bersih’ gathering at Grand Continental hotel ballroom this Saturday, said state PKR Information chief See Chee How.
See, who is also Batu Lintang assemblyman and PKR Stampin branch chairman said, the gathering from 7pm-9pm is the first to be held in the state.
PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is also expected at the gathering.
“The event is also an evening session with him (Anwar) and those attending the function will have the opportunity to ask questions,” he told reporters yesterday.
He disclosed that a documentary, videos and pictures taken on the Bersih Rally held in Kuala Lumpur last weekend will also be shown.
“The gathering on July 9 will not be the last. It is just the beginning to show how committed the rakyat are to seek political and institutional reforms in the state,” he said.
See pointed out that the gathering will inform the rakyat on the actuality of the KL demonstration, which was done peacefully instead of what had been reported in the national and local media.
“What was portrayed and reported in the news contradicts with the actual event. We need to show the truth to the rakyat.
“ Therefore, I urge the public who wish to attend to wear yellow T-shirt to show their support to the gathering,” he said.
To a question, See said PKR intended to hold a roadshow for Bersih rally statewide soon.
“We are thinking of doing a roadshow at Sibu, Bintulu and Miri but the date
has yet been decided.”
The gathering will be also be attended by members of six non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
who were detained while taking part in last Saturday ‘srally and share their experience.
