KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) expects to see its credit card and debit card holders purchasing products and services worth RM10 million at its ongoing Maybank TreatsFair 2011 at the Mid Valley Megamall here.
It also expects its cardholders to redeem a total of one billion points which would be equivalent to RM5 million worth in products and services during the fair, bringing total sales at the event to RM15 million, its executive vice-president and head of Cards, Wealth and Payments, B Ravintharan said.
In 2010, 800 million treat points were redeemed which was equivalent to RM4 million in sales and another RM8 million worth of purchases in products and services were also made, bringing total sales to RM12 million, he said.
“This is seventh consecutive year the event is running and it has become much more bigger than last year and is expected to attract 180,000 customers,” he said at a media briefing following the launch of the event.
For the first time, cardmembers from Maybank Singapore and Bank Internasional Indonesia would be able to also shop or redeem at the fair using their respective treatpoints, he added.
“The total treatpoints for cardmembers from Malaysia, Singapore and BII is close to 43 billion, which translates into huge savings for customers,” he said.
At the fair, cardmembers will be able to not only enjoy the savings element but also special pricing on products and services and they even can pay their traffic summons by using the treatpoints.
For the first time, the American Express cardmembers would be able to take advantage of the special Ezy Pay scheme as well.
During the four-day fair, Maybank also expects to attract 2,000 new cardmembers compared with last year where it registered 1,000 new cardmembers.
Ravintharan said currently the bank’s credit and debit card transactions contributed five per cent of the group’s revenue and Maybank aimed to increase the figure to eight per cent by 2015.
During the fair, cardmembers can also make their purchases online from the 268 booths at the event, making it convenient for customers living out of the city area, he added. — Bernama
