KOTA KINABALU: A local crane driver was charged at the Sessions Court here yesterday with raping his daughter.
The 46-year-old man pleaded not guilty before deputy registrar of the High Court, Zulkifli Abllah, to raping his 17-year-old daughter at an unnumbered house at a village in Menggatal in the middle of February 2010.
He was charged under Section 375 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of between eight years and 30 years and whipping.
Zulkifli, who sat as a Sessions Court judge, fixed Sept 29-30 this year for the trial of the father.
The court ordered the accused to be further remanded in custody under Section 259 of the Criminal Procedure Code, pending his trial.
Prosecuting officer Inspector Syahrin Ali told the court that the prosecution would call 11 witnesses to testify against the undefended accused.
