KUCHING: Musical maestro Nisa Addina Mohd Taufik will be returning to Kuching tomorrow bearing trophies won in the Hollywood’s World Talent Battle held on July 15 to 24.

The 14-year-old from SMK Batu Lintang emerged champion in the Junior Instrumental category in the grand finals.

She also won three gold and one silver in the Genre Category.

She represented Malaysia at the championship, participating for the first time.

Her father, a councillor from Kuching City South Council (MBKS) broke the news to reporters at the council office yesterday.

“I was told of her achievements by my wife who is with her in California.

“She was among the 75,000 applicants from 40 countries and has done our country, especially Sarawak proud,” said Mohd Taufik Abdul Ghani.

The competition is universally cited as the one and only official global event for performers and entertainers (amateur and professional).

Its structure is reproduced as closely as possible to the processes used in auditioning and casting for film, television and Broadway.

Special emphasis is placed on entertainment value and marketability.

Besides awarding gold, silver and bronze medals, Olympic-style trophies are presented to overall winners in various categories.
