LAHAD DATU: A plantation worker suspected of murdering his father-in-law, surrendered himself to police here on Monday.

Deputy State Commissioner of Police SAC Tan Kok Liang said the 36-year-old suspect was sought by the police after he had allegedly stabbed his father-in-law several times at the chest, shoulder, arm, elbow and back.

“The suspect then fled the scene and hid himself. He was believed to have decided to surrender himself as he had no families or direction to go.

“The suspect who also had no money and food, then came out from hiding and sought help from his colleagues and employer,” he said.

Tan said the employer and colleagues then persuaded him to surrender himself to the police.

The suspect came to the Cenderawasih police station around 3pm on Monday and the police detained him for investigation into the murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
