KUCHING: Chung Hua Primary School No.1’s proposed expansion project is still short of RM1 million.

Chairman of the Committee of Management of Kuching Chung Hua Primary Schools No.1 to 6, Dr Chou Chii Ming, said the total cost was
RM6 million but so far they only had RM5 million in hand.

Out of this RM5 million, RM3 million was allocated by the federal government and RM2 million through fund-raising activities.

“The project will commence on Aug 1 but we still need to walk around to look for another RM1 million,” Chou said at a cheque presentation ceremony here yesterday.

He said the project, which would take 18 months to complete, would boast a school hall, canteen, a teachers’ room and 25 classrooms.

In expressing his gratitude to the many generous donors who had come forward, Chou urged members of the public to continue to extend a helping hand.

Naim Holdings Berhad donated RM75,000 to the committee of management of Kuching Chung Hua Primary Schools No.1 to 6 and RM25,000 to the committee of management of Chung Hua Middle School No.1,3 and 4.

The funds were collected from the Miss Cheongsam Charity 2010 and 2011 organised by Alaric’s Production Company.

Also present were the chairman of the committee of management of Chung Hua Middle School No.1, 3 and 4 Richard Wee, event consultant and organiser of Alaric’s Production Alaric Soh, who is also Naim Holdings Berhad’s senior general manager and Miss Cheongsam Charity’s event advisor Michael Teo.
