Rosmah flies to KK to be with special children to show she cares

KOTA KINABALU: True to her caring attitude and as head of The Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (BAKTI), Datuk Seri Panglima Rosmah Mansor spent an hour and a half to hand over Hari Raya assistance to 261 people with disabilities from 17 rehabilitation centres in the state at 1Borneo Hypermall yesterday.

Despite her busy schedule, she flew all the way from Kuala Lumpur with BAKTI vice head Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman to the State to show to Sabahans that her heart is close to Sabah.

“When I went out of home today, the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) asked me why only spend an hour and a half in Kota Kinabalu, while my back and forth flight had already taken about five hours.

“Even though my flight expenses are more expensive than our assistance today, I really want to be here because I consider Sabah as my family,” she said.

During the handing over of assistance to people with disabilities yesterday, the Prime Minister’s wife also announced BAKTI would be giving another RM2,000 financial aid to every community-based rehabilitation centre in Sabah to allow the centres to hold their yearly activities.

The RM2,000 in an increase of 100 per cent from last year’s RM1,000.

She added that BAKTI would also hand over RM15,000 to Wives of Sabah Barisan Nasional Elected Representatives (BAKISA) to be divided among children of all rehabilitation centres in Sabah registered under the State Welfare Department.

During the event yesterday, 1 Borneo Hypermall developer Sagajuta Sdn Bhd managing director Raymond Chan also donated RM10,000 each to BAKTI and BAKISA.

BAKISA chief Datin Seri Panglima Hajah Faridah Tussin was also present at the function.
