KUCHING: Three separate accidents, including one that claimed the life of a young man, occurred between 2am to 4am yesterday around 8th Mile in Jalan Penrissen here.
The deceased was identified as Shaffy Davis Bangkong, 20, from 12th Mile Jalan Kuching-Serian here.
Shaffy was involved in a road accident around 2am when he was heading home.
It was believed that Shaffy lost control of his speeding motorcycle before crashing into a tree.
Road users who were passing by provided assistance to the victim who lay motionless near to the tree.
Sentosa Hospital sent an ambulance to the scene after receiving a distress call from members of the public.
Shaffy was later pronounced dead by the medical officer of the hospital and his body has been sent to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for a post-mortem.
The other two accidents happened after the fatal crash.
While police was investigating the first accident, a Kancil from the opposite direction lost control and hit a tree near to the first incident.
All three women inside the Kancil sustained injuries and were sent to SGH for further treatment.
No one was injured in a third accident that involved four cars.
The police are still investigating the cases.
