The mother of former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark has died this morning.
Margaret Helen Clark, 87, was a retired teacher, living at Waihi Beach. She died peacefully this morning in Tauranga Hospital. Her daughter Helen was with her when she passed away.
Margaret Clark is survived by her husband George and her four daughters.
Former Prime Minister Clark, who is now based in New York where she works for the United Nations, had been visiting her parents for the last two or three weeks.
A funeral is planned at her hometown of Waihi on Monday.
