Malaysian students excel at Canning College

KUCHING: Malaysian students have a long and distinguished record of achievement at Canning College.

Since 1986, Malaysian students have consistently outperformed others in terms of academic achievement.So far this year, Malaysian students have dominated scholarships by winning over 50 per cent of those on offer.

Canning offers scholarships for all major programmes – Diploma of Commerce, Western Australia Universities’ Preparatory Program (WAUPP), Year 12 and Certificate lV (Commerce).

It is expected that the 2011 students will follow the example set by predecessors.

Last year, Malaysian students achieved excellent results and subsequent university placements – the top two WAUPP students were from Malaysia and won scholarships to prestigious Group of Eight universities in Australia.

After completing at Canning, Malaysian students went on to programmes such as Medicine, Engineering, Commerce, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Architecture, Actuarial Science, Biomedical Sciences and Health Sciences at some of Australia’s leading universities – University of Western Australia, University of Melbourne, Curtin University, Australian National University, Monash University, University of Queensland.

This year, Canning celebrates the 10th anniversary of the prestigious Diploma of Commerce: UWA Stream.

Entry to this excellent programme is from Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) or similar levels.

The diploma is equivalent to year one Bachelor of Commerce at UWA and leads to a guaranteed place into year two. Each semester the top student in the UWA Stream receives a 50 per cent scholarship for years two and three of the Bachelor of Commerce plus Honours year.
