KOTA KINABALU: A local woman suffered burns on her face when she was attacked with a corrosive liquid, believed to be an acid, by an unidentified man in a vehicle at Taman Khidmat, Kolombong on Wednesday.

It is learnt that the victim, identified only as Ling, 22, was walking to a supermarket when the assailant splashed her face with the liquid around 2pm.

When met at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday, Ling said she had just alighted from her car and was walking to her office when a man got off a car and splashed the liquid on her face.

Although suffering burns on her face, Ling went to lodge a police report before she was taken to the hospital by her colleague and relatives.

Meanwhile, acting city police chief DSP Peter Anak Umbuas, when contacted, said police are investigating the case under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.

Peter urged eyewitnesses to come forward to assist police in their investigation.
