State dignitaries hold Raya open house

KUCHING: The public will get to have another chance to interact with the state’s dignitaries during their Raya open houses — part of Sarawak’s unique concept to promote unity.

Housing and Urban Development Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg will be having his open house at Sri Minangkabau II, Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub, Petra Jaya on the second day of Raya from 12pm to 5pm, according to a press statement Sunday.

Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office Datin Fatimah Abdullah will have hers at ‘IDA-ADIMA’, No.115, Lot 2470, Desa Guru, Jalan Ilmu on the second day of Raya from 1pm to 5pm.

Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Islamic Affairs) Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman will have his open house at Lot 5927, Jalan Matang Baru, Petra Jaya on the second day of Raya from 10am to 5pm.

State secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani will have his open house at No. 381, Jalan Bunga Kasturi, Kampung Pinang Jawa, Petra Jaya on the second day of Raya from 12pm to 9pm.

Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and other state cabinet ministers will hold their joint open house on the first and second day of Raya at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) from 11am to 5pm (first day) and 10am to 3pm (second day).

The state secretary will join Taib and other state cabinet ministers at the open house on the first day.

Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhammad Salahuddin and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Norkiah will hold a two-day Raya open house at the Astana, Petra Jaya.

On the first day, they will welcome VIPs and other local dignitaries from 10am to 12pm and then from 3pm to 5pm. On the second day, Tun Salahuddin and Toh Puan Norkiah will join Taib at BCCK to welcome members of the public and other well-wishers from 10am to 12pm and then at the Astana from 3pm to 5pm.

Tun Salahuddin and his wife will visit local dignitaries and friends in Kuching on the third day of the celebration while in Sibu, His Excellency will hold his Raya open house at Sri Rajang Government Rest House on Sept 5 from 10am to 1pm.

They will also make Raya visits to local dignitaries and friends in Sarikei on Sept 4, in Miri on Sept 7 and Bintulu on Sept 10.

Members of the public who wish to visit them are advised to be properly attired and not wear jeans, T-shirts and slippers.
