KOTA KINABALU: A 10-year-old girl drowned in Moyog River at Kampung Pogunon, Jalan Tambunan in Penampang near here early yesterday morning.
The foreigner was said to have gone to the river with an 11-year-old friend for a swim around 8am when she faced difficulty.
It is believed that the friend then went to call for help from nearby villagers.
The victim’s body was found by villagers not far from where she went missing around 8.30am.
The Fire and Rescue Department operation centre when contacted, said the department sent a fire engine with six personnel to the scene after they received the information at 8.12am.
Family members had claimed the victim’s body.
