KUCHING: Chief Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah slammed opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s utopian dream for saddling the Malaysian government.

Anwar, who is on a constant rampage of exaggeration on the welfare and spurring development of states under the rule of Pakatan Rakyat, had riled Karim who finally pulled the dagger by labelling Anwar as ‘Indah khabar dari rupa’ meaning ‘Not as rosy as portrayed’.

On Sunday during a Hari Raya visit to RPR Batu Kawa, Anwar, who was accompanied by Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, boasted that states ruled by Pakatan – Selangor, Kedah, Pulau Pinang and Kelantan – were thriving in terms of development.

At the same time, Anwar also expressed his distaste of Barisan Nasional government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who he said merely took over the people’s mandate from Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

“Anwar is good at giving juicy promises, hopes and expectations to his supporters,” said Karim, who is also Asajaya assemblyman, yesterday.

Karim also accused Anwar of misleading the people by promising that Malaysia would have a new government after September 16, 2008.

“Three years down the road… nothing has changed,” stressed Karim, adding that people living in states ruled by Pakatan had not experienced any positive changes but instead faced constant chaos and internal squabbles among its leaders.

To him, Sarawak PKR is a “seasonal party” which only appears before the state or general election only to disappear into thin air after the polls.

“We have told PKR in the last state election that we did not want them and we will tell them again in this forthcoming 13th general election,” warned Karim.

Meanwhile, state Barisan Nasional Youth chief Datuk Fadillah Yusof believes that Sarawakians will not be easily hoodwinked by Pakatan which is driven by self interests.

“As far as I am concerned, the people will realise the failings of Pakatan. I leave it to the people to judge,” said Fadillah, stressing that the opposition leader had been saying the same things ever since the last state election.

“Will the rakyat put their fate in the hands of liars?” questioned Fadillah, who is also member of parliament for Petra Jaya.

He also claimed that PR was desperate and willing to do anything, including supporting the Bersih 2.0 rally on July 9.

“We are already living in a stable country, in fact the Bersih rally has caused instability and destroyed the nation’s image,” he said.
