Varsities confirm attendance to Commonwealth Education Carnival

KUCHING: Response for the Commonwealth Education Carnival (CEC) 2011 has been very encouraging with numerous prominent varsities and academies confirming their participation for the upcoming carnival in November.

According to a press statement, the inaugural carnival which is organised by UCSI Communications Sdn Bhd will see the participation of both public and private universities and specialist academies.

Among those that had confirmed their participation at the carnival which will be staged at the Hills Shopping Centre in Kuching are Wawasan Open University, Masterskills University College of Health and Sciences, UCSI University and A Cut Above.

The carnival will be held for three days from November 18 and Commonwealth Journalists Association, Sarawak Chapter has also confirmed its participation as a Supporting Event Partner (SEP) as well as endorsing the carnival.

Unlike the normal education fair, CEC is targeted at focusing attention on people seeking the right academic avenue.

The carnival will also be emphasising on skilled careers.

Beauty and culinary academies are among those participating in this carnival.

Various interesting programmes have also been lined up and these include talks by speakers from the reputable local and international institutions of higher learning and banks in Malaysia.

Among the talks to look out for are topics on the availability of study loans, career choices as well as a talk by president of the CJA Canadian branch Chris Cobb, who is also a senior feature writer and reporter at the Ottawa Citizen newspaper in Canada’s capital.

There will also be musical performances, culinary demonstration, make-up demonstration, hair and fashion shows as well as health screening.
