KUCHING: Fans of Irish Guinness dry stout partied at Rajang Lobby Lounge of Grand Margherita Hotel Thursday night to mark this year’s Arthur’s Day.

The actual Arthur’s Day 2011 is set to take place in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 23 to toast the legendary Arthur Guinness, the man who created the brew.

This year’s worldwide celebrations will kick off at 17.59 GMT on Sept 22 from Ireland and Europe across to the US, Caribbean and ending in Asia.

The 24-hour celebration and live music event will see Guinness fans across the globe raise their glasses for the third annual Arthur’s Day.

Arthur’s Day was first organised in 2009 to mark the 250th anniversary when Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000-year lease on the famous St James’s Gate brewery in Dublin, Ireland.

Thanks to Arthur, people from all over the world have been enjoying the most famous Irish brew for more than 250 years.

Fans of Guinness are welcomed to be a part of Arthur’s Day celebration in the country’s capital city as a way to observe the life and legacy of Arthur Guinness and his brewing tradition.

Among those present at the Arthur’s Day party were Guinness Anchor Marketing Sdn Bhd East Malaysia senior brand manager April Wong, Kuching sales executive Billy Low, Grand Margherita Hotel general manager Arthur Yeap, manager Patrick Lau and food and beverage manager Alphonsus Lim.
