Big crowd at Awang Tengah’s open house

LAWAS: A crowd of over 10,000 thronged the open house hosted by Second Minster of Planning and Resource Management Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan and his wife Datuk Dayang Morliah Awang Daud in Lawas yesterday.

Among them were Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong, state assemblymen Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail (Bukit Kota) and Paulus Palu Gumbang (Batu Danau), Lawas district officer Mohd Supaih Hamdan and heads of government department and agencies.

Visitors also included state assistant financial secretary Datuk Liaw Soon Eng, Temenggong Ang Kheng Su, Temenggong Paris Kaya and Temenggong Sabli Hamid, Pemanca Tan Yong H’ng, members of Limbang Chinese Chamber of Commerce led by chairman Lim Chwee Cheng and representatives from NGOs in Limbang and Lawas.

The atmosphere was enlivened by the live performance of Bob AF and group of singers, lion dance and cultural performances by Lawas Cultural Association, ‘ngajat’ by Lawas Iban community and presentation of ‘Duit Raya’ to kids accompanying their parents.

It was a chance for Awang Tengah and his family to catch up with their many friends and relatives in Lawas, Limbang, Brunei and Sabah.

Awang Tengah and his family members thanked all those who came.

There was continuous flow of visitors from 8am till evening, and many, particularly long-time family friends, were just happy to catch up with the host and his family.
