MIRI: There should be no hesitation in donating blood and done willingly on a voluntary basis.
Miri Hospital Blood Bank assistant information chief Lily Sinta told thesundaypost yesterday.
A request for blood means that there is an urgent need of the life saving fluid.
“Thus, do not hesitate but get involved immediately at any blood donation drive, and donate,” she urged.
She hoped the public at large are aware of their social responsibility, thus be more charitable and show they care for those who are in need of blood transfusion.
“This is the most noble thing to do, to help a fellow human being by sharing our blood,” she asserted.
She added there is a blood donation exercise at the Level 3 of Boulevard Shopping Complex here today (Sept 11), organised by Hin Ann Association The public may come for the registration commencing at 10am and the donation will end at 1pm. Another campaign will be on Sept 14, organised by SMK Baru Miri, and will be held at its multi-purpose hall from 9am to noon.
The other campaigns are scheduled as follows.
Sept 18 — Bintang Mega Mall from 10am to 1pm, organised by Miri Life Care Society.
Sept 24 — Grand Palace Ballroom (9am – 1pm), organised by the hotel management.
Sept 25 — Boulevard Shopping Complex, Miri-Pujut Road (10am – 1pm), organised by Kwong Wai Siew Association.
Sept 28 — at the lobby of Malaysia Airports Office (9am until noon), organised by Malaysia Airports Miri.
Lily said the campaign schedules are subjected to changes. Therefore, she advised people to call the Blood Bank during office hours at 085-416657 for confirmation of the dates.
