KANOWIT: Kanowit MP Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang officiated the launching of two new jetties at 36-door Rumah Sintao Nisi in Nanga Ensengai last Saturday at a meet-the-people session.

Last May Ago provided the allocation necessary for the residents of the longhouse to build the jetties to replace a jetty consisting of tied up logs that they had to use to access the river for the past five years.

The longhouse residents took two days to complete the jetties on a ‘gotong royong’ basis.

In his speech, Aaron told the people to continue to be united and to not be selfish in terms of development for their longhouse.

He also assured them that no one would be left behind under the 1Malaysia concept.

“It is always the intention of the government to see the people developed.

“And to achieve this, the people must be united and willing to work together with the government,” he said.

At the same function, Aaron announced the provision of a minor rural project grant totalling RM40,000 to repair the longhouse roof.

Earlier, Tuai Rumah Sintao representing the longhouse resident in his speech vowed to give Ago and all the Barisan Nasional leaders their full support.

“We believe that only BN can bring us the development that we desire,” he said.

Also present at the function was Kanowit Information Department chief Wan Mohd Zuki Wan Ismail.
