SARIKEI: The body of a 52-year-old man who went missing while fishing in Sare River near here last Monday has been found.
Chan Fok Chai was believed to have drowned.
Members of the search-and-rescue (SAR) team found his body around 10am yesterday morning.
Family members identified it yesterday morning and it had been sent to the hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
According to family members, Chan had gone out in a small boat to catch crabs around 7am last Monday. When he failed to return by 5pm, they suspected something amiss and lodged a report at Jakar Police Station.
A search-and-rescue operation was immediately mounted by members of the Police, Fire and Rescue Services and Marine Police.
Chan left behind his wife, a son and three daughters.
The police have classified the case as sudden death.
