SANDAKAN: The Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra Berhad) expects to distribute RM850 million in dividends this year to all 94,000 participants in the country said, chief executive officer Juzilman Basir.

“The target is expected to be achieved based on the increasing yield in oil palm plantations and oil palm fruit price in the market this year,” he said.

Speaking during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Felcra Sabah open house  here at the ILP hall yesterday, he said the expected target could be achieved if the production increased and the price of commodities was positive.

“ For 2011, we received RM544 million in revenue and a dividend of RM157 million was paid out to participants before the Ramadan and RM244 million on the recent Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he said.

From the total, RM15.5 million was disbursed to 3,200 Felcra participants in Sabah and each  received between RM7,000 to RM10,000.

According to Juzilman, Felcra was now focusing on improving infrastructure facilities in the rural areas.

“Felcra Berhad had received an allocation worth  RM30 million from the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development.

“The allocation is to improve rural roads, rehabilitation of existing facilities as well as the implementation of poor housing development projects, besides developing more farm areas in the state for the benefit of the people in the rural areas,” he said.

Also attending the ceremony were the general manager of Sabah Regional Felcra Berhad Haji Samian Mohd Ali, staff and participants.
