Cops probe splashing of kerosene incident near Mat Sabu’s house

SHAH ALAM: Police are investigating the case on the splashing of kerosene near the gate of the house of PAS deputy president, Mohamad Sabu, at Section 19, here early yesterday morning.

Shah Alam District Police Chief, ACP Zahedi Ayob said preliminary investigation revealed that a bottle of kerosene oil had been broken in front of the gate to the house before lighting it up.

“We have found match sticks and the bottle of kerosene oil and are tracking down the individuals involved,” he told Bernama yesterday.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire or explosive substance.

Anyone who witnessed the incident were requested to come forward to assist in the investigation, he said.

The incident was reported to have occurred at about 12.40 yesterday morning and the fire was put out by his neighbour, according to Mat Sabu’s second child, Nurul Huda, 28, who was at home during the incident.

She said that during the incident, her father was attending a programme in Penang while her mother was in Perlis to take care of her ailing grandparents. — Bernama
