KUALA LUMPUR: A man cheated death after his car caught fire on Jalan Beringin, Bukit Damansara, here yesterday morning.

The victim who declined to be identified, in his 30s, was lucky that he managed to stop his car by the roadside after noticing smoke coming out from the rear of the car.

Meanwhile, Sri Hartamas Fire and Rescue Department Senior Officer II Shahrul Azizi said they received a call from the victim at 11.50am and arrived at the scene within seven minutes.

He said a fire engine and seven firemen were rushed to the scene where they found about 50 per cent of the car in flames.

“Firemen only took several minutes to put out the fire,” said Shahrul Azizi, adding that the cause of the fire is being investigated. — Bernama
