KUCHING: Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud will announce the much anticipated state Cabinet reshuffle
today.

A close aide to the chief minister said that Taib, who is state Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, is expected to make
the announcement at 3pm at his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia here.

The Cabinet reshuffle has been a hot topic since the last state election. Rumours have it that there would be major changes in the portfolios of the current ministers.

The state Cabinet presently has 10 ministers and 12 assistant ministers.

Last week, Taib told the media that he would announce the Cabinet reshuffle sometime this week.

Speculations are also rife that Bengoh assemblyman Dr Jerip Susil (SUPP), Belawai assemblyman Datu Len Talif Salleh and Semariang assemblywoman Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali (both PBB) would be among the new faces
in the new cabinet line-up due to the massive loss suffered by SUPP in the last state election.

They included the president and former deputy chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan and its two former assistant ministers, namely Datuk David Teng and Tan Joo Phoi.

SPDP meanwhile lost its deputy president in the person of Datuk Peter Nyarok.

Three other assistant ministers were not renominated, namely Datuk Dr Soon Choon Teck, Datuk Dr Abang Abdul Rauf Zen and Larry Sng.
