KUCHING: Avon Products Inc announced the retirement of one of its most distinguished and highly respected leaders in the Asia Pacific region, Avon Cosmetics Sdn Bhd’s (Avon Malaysia) president since 2004, Mansoor Wan Abdullah.

According to a press statement by Avon yesterday, Mansoor would relinquish his duties on October 1 this year after long and stellar careers with Avon Malaysia. Mansoor joined Avon in 1992 as a customer service director and was promoted as sales director after six months.

He spearheaded the implementation of a new business model that greatly enhanced Avon representatives’ earnings and productivity during his tenure in sales. Avon Malaysia’s total sales performance tripled between 1993 and 2000. He played a pivotal role in establishing Avon’s operation in India in 1996, and in preparing for Avon’s entry into Vietnam in 2004.

“Not only did Malaysia deliver substantial growth year after year, it became one of the company’s major markets in Asia. Avon Malaysia was awarded the ‘Flame Award’, after being hailed as the country with the best managed Avon operations in terms of services, revenues and corporate social responsibility,” added the press statement.

Throughout his 19 years with Avon, Mansoor had embodied the spirit and values of Avon. Under his guidance, Avon Malaysia had become a leader in corporate social responsibility with its numerous campaigns such as ‘Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer’, ‘Domestic Violence’ and ‘Hello Green Tomorrow’ for the betterment of women in Malaysia.

During his time at the helm of Avon Malaysia, both he and the company received numerous awards and recognition from the Malaysian Government, non-government organisations and from Avon Products Inc.
