On their part, he said, the community needed to translate the gesture into votes for BN in the coming general election.

“We are very grateful to the BN government for appointing both Dr Jerip Susil as assistant minister and Roland Sagah as deputy speaker,” Manyin told The Borneo Post here yesterday.

He said the community must support the BN candidates fielded by their respective parties in the coming election.

Manyin, who retained his portfolio as Minister of Infrastructure Development and Communications, was confident that the three parliamentary seats allocated to the community, namely Serian, Mambong and Mas Gading would be retained by the BN candidates.

Currently, the three Bidayuh MPs are Datuk Richard Riot (SUPP-Serian), Datuk Dr James Dawos Mamit (PBB-Mambong) and Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe (SPDP-Mas Gading).

Riot is also Deputy Foreign Minister and Dr Dawos, Deputy Tourism Minister while Dr Tiki, chairman of National Service Training Council.
