PPP veep: We have to go through State BN this coming

KUCHING: People’s Progressive Party’s (PPP) senior vice-president Datuk Maglin Dennis D’Cruz gave his assurance that the party would have to go through the Sarawak Barisan Nasional before fielding candidates for the 13th general election in Sarawak.

“We must follow protocol and go though the state BN chairman Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud,” said Maglin upon his arrival at Kuching International Airport Friday.

He also said it was important for all BN component parties to support each other during the general election.

Maglin said no discussion or meeting were held with the Sarawak BN so far.

The peninsula-based party according to Maglin will have overall participation in the general election in Semenajung.

He predicted that the situation in this next general election would be a different ball game.

“It is now very important for candidates to show and prove their capabilities,” said Maglin.

Meanwhile, regarding his official visit to Mas Gading yesterday, Maglin said the visit was to build rapport with the rakyat of the constiuency.

“We just want to meet the people in the area and see what they can do and what BN can
do in return for them,” said Maglin who will also be visiting Bau Hospital besides attending an exhibition from 17 private and government agencies.

PPP have close to 53,000 members nationwide with 13 branches in Sarawak and
another 58 branches pending approval from the Registrar of Societies.
