MAS to offer premium wines for first, business class passengers

KUCHING: First class and business class passengers can look forward to enjoying a more premium in-flight service whenever they fly Malaysia Airlines System Bhd (MAS) next time. MAS is serving a new selection of premium wine and champagne labels, known for their great class and elegance.

According to a press release by MAS, each of the new selection of premium pouring wines and champagnes from France, Germany, Spain, Australia and Portugal would be served with a suggested food menu to enhance the satisfaction of customers.

“This service, as part of the airline’s continued efforts to position itself as the preferred premium carrier of Asia, applies to many European routes and all Australia and New Zealand routes.

“Commencing this month, customers on international routes to North and South Asia, the Middle East, South Africa and the Americas would also be able to enjoy the selected premium wines,” added MAS.

The national carrier also stated that first class passengers on the flight could look forward to an excellent list of red, white and port wines such as Dom Pérignon 2002 champagne, Chateau Léoville Poyferré Grand Cru red Bordeaux and Frédéric Magnien Meursault white Burgundy as well as Taylor’s Port.

Business class customers, on the other hand, could also take pleasure in being served an international selection of champagne, white Rieslings and Chardonnays, as well as a variety of old and new world reds.

MAS, through its ‘Learning and Growth’ programme, would be having a specially-developed wine training module for selected cabin crew, where they would be taught the essentials of wine appreciation during this course.

In addition, the airline  had also appointed a ‘Master of Wine’, Dr Ron Georgiou – one of only 289 Masters of Wine in the world – as its wine consultant to improve quality, selection, standing and reputation of its future wine lists.
