KUALA SELANGOR: Universiti Selangor (Unisel) Acting vice-chancellor Professor Dr Anuar Ahmad is prepared to face the consequences of a legal action filed against him by the university’s former vice-chancellor Datuk Dr Rosti Saruwono and two others at the Shah Alam High Court Friday.

“I’ll leave it to the lawyers to handle the case,” he told a media conference after the university’s sixth convocation at Bestari Jaya here yesterday.   He said this when asked to comment on the filing of a defamation suit by Rosti, and the university’s former dean of the Business Faculty, Professor Dr Khalifah Othman and former marketing and corporate communication director, Halid Hasbullah.

Besides Anuar, the suit also named three others as defendants. They are Unisel Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) of Student Affairs Associate Professor Zainal Abidin Kidam, DVC of Strategic Planning and Development Professor Dr Mohamad Daud and former vice-president of service and management, Datuk Latifah Hassan.

The suit was filed in connection with a memorandum sent to the Selangor government last May.

In the suit, Rosti and Khalifah are seeking damages of RM3 million each, while Halid is claiming RM2 million.

Last August, Rosti, not happy with the university’s action in transferring  Khalifah, Halid and the registrar, Rokma Mat, resigned as its vice-chancellor.

Following which, Dr Anuar was appointed as acting vice-chancellor.
