Questioned as to how the suspect managed to get away at that time after being detained for five days, Mohd Adnan said the police are investigating the matter.

“We will investigate first to ascertain who was negligent, whether it was the police who were guarding him or otherwise, we cannot blame anyone until the outcome is known,” he told  Bernama here, yesterday.

The 37-year-old suspect is alleged to have raped and murdered See Sheau Fang, 18, on Feb 26, 2004 and buried her body in a cement hole in front of his house in Taman Perwira, Banting.
