Assistant manager attacked by four workers

KENINGAU: An assistant manager of an oil palm estate located at Mile 38 Nabawan Road was assaulted by four workers after he reprimanded one of them for reporting for work late.

Keningau district police chief, Deputy Superintendent Zahari Mohamed yesterday said, the victim identified as Jonson @ Faumin Ungoson, 31, had lodged a police report on Monday at 5:50pm, saying he was beaten with a hockey stick and an iron rod by the workers.

“The victim was also kicked on his feet and body, causing him to suffer bruises on the back and cheek, pain on the back as well as left hand. The victim was treated as an outpatient at Keningau hospital,” Zahari said.

Initial investigations into the case revealed that before the victim was beaten, he has verbally reprimanded the suspect for coming late to work.

According to Zahari, no arrest has been made although police have already identified the suspect and the case is being investigated into under Section 147 of the Penal Code.
