KUALA LUMPUR: Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Deputy Minister Datuk Hajah Rohani Haji Abdul Karim has called for initiatives to make life insurance more affordable for lower income earners, saying those with no fixed income will find it hard to pay the monthly installments.
“Flexibility could be given to provide deductions from life subsistence allowances provided by the government,” she said at the Bumiputera Life Insurance Agents Convention 2011 and presentation ceremony for the Bumiputera Agency Managers and Top Personal Producer awards. She also stressed that despite negative perceptions of the industry, the incidence of fraud cases by agents is relatively low, with only 49 cases reported so far this year. — Bernama
