Student dies after motorcycle crashes into ambulance

ALOR SETAR: A Form One student was killed after his motorcycle crashed into an ambulance at a junction in Kampung Pokok Asam near here Sunday night.

Kota Setar police chief ACP Adzaman Mohd Jan said Muhammad Mu’az Johari, 13, from Kampung Alor Raja, Langgar near here, sustained severe head injuries and a broken leg after his Modenas Kriss motorcycle collided with the ambulance which was heading to the village to fetch a patient, at 8pm.

“Three medical officers in the ambulance then took the victim to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries at 10am yesterday,” he told reporters here yesterday.

Adzaman said the ambulance driver and the three medical officers were unhurt.

Based on the condition of the ambulance and the motorcycle, we believe that the victim was speeding,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987. — Bernama
